#14: Negotiate assertively with your neighbour ;)

When your balcony is in close proximity with your neighbour, sometime or another~ at some point or another, you’ll have to negotiate with them. Every neighbour has their quirks and pros. And unless you’re planning to lock yourself in your apartment without never opening your balcony door regardless how stuffy it is and living in noise cancelling headphones for eternity- you’re going to have to talk to them. πŸ˜‰

Now before you go off on a rant about every single thing to your neighbour- you have to decide whether it’s a say it or deal with it scenario πŸ˜‰ Cause after all we have our own quirks too that we don’t really notice that our neighbour cruises over without saying a thing.

So it’s a two way thing.
For instance I know my quirks are midnight cheffing with the stove fan, dishwashing in the middle of the night and blow drying early in the morning πŸ˜‰ And my neighbour doesn’t say a thing.

Likewise I don’t mind when they have their friends over once in a while (loud music and whatnot, it’s uni after all and this is the norm). After all it’s nice having some noise around the apartment so it doesn’t feel like I’m in complete isolation in this 10 building floor haha. And to be fair they’re pretty respectful in not traipsing over to my side of the balcony, they keep it in theirs πŸ˜‰

So those fall under the deal with it scenarios.

Say it scenarios…

Kind of like- rubbish on their side falling on yours when the building is on the hunt for fines for rubbish flying down the lower levels.

Whether it’s in a text or in person, you want to go along the lines of something like- mutual benefit…

Neighbour msg

After all, assertiveness always pays off instead of flying off the handle- cause well, better neighbour relations are in your best interests especially when you lock yourself out. πŸ˜‰
