X is for Xocolatdl

on April 28, 2016

Ahem. Just so you know, I did not just make this up just because there’s hardly any food out there that starts with X! Way back when to the Aztecs, chocolate as we know today was originally called Xocolatl πŸ˜‰ (Spanish/Aztec Nahuatl descendant word). As we all know cacao beans were the cream of the crop trading/bartering goods and exalted as the highest order of food. Once they turned it to a drink (aka hot chocolate), the rest is history. * Thanks again Livestrong blog!

There you have it- today’s short history lesson πŸ˜‰ Side note, never ever buy caramels from Woolworths, worst tasting candy ever.

Toffee/butter caramel filled chocolate namely from Cadbury Roses are the best ones ever. If I could, I would buy many many boxes of Cadbury Roses and just pick out the butter caramels to make an entire box of them just alone! Pure Carmello is just a bit too sweet for me! With the next best chocolate is Picnic caramel swirled over water think biscuits with peanuts πŸ˜‰

Another quirk is hot chocolate but with not too much chocolate. Needless to say last year when I finally got a milk frother, I’ve been hooked on using it to make my very own caramel hot chocolate just the way I like it πŸ˜‰

And of course! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, one of my most favourite books of all times. The magic and wonder of Willy Wonka!

What about your favourite chocolates?
