Fennel Telegraph UK 2015

Until Masterchef, I actually never heard of fennel! In fact if I remember correctly 2012 was the year of the fennel. They were obsessed with it, in salads, garnishes, mains, at least one contestant used it in every ep!

It’s quite versatile- from being eaten raw to cooked in various ways. Check out the Telegraph’s best recipes for fennel and most notably how to actually cut fennel! Though admittedly I’m not much of a fan of fennel, I must say it’s packed with surprising nutrients!

Fun facts about fennel

πŸ˜‰ There’s 3 parts to fennel- the base, stalk and leaves. I actually thought fennel was the bottom half of the celery as it looks quite similar.

πŸ˜‰ The base is where the Masterchef contestants were obsessed with.

πŸ˜‰ Stalks are best used for soups, stocks those kind of recipes while the leaves for garnish.

πŸ˜‰ From vitamin C to iron to calcium, it’s full of goodness to protect us from colds!
