Until Masterchef, I actually never heard of fennel! In fact if I remember correctly 2012 was the year of the fennel. They were obsessed with it, in salads, garnishes, mains, at least one contestant used it in every ep!

Fun facts about fennel
😉 There’s 3 parts to fennel- the base, stalk and leaves. I actually thought fennel was the bottom half of the celery as it looks quite similar.
😉 The base is where the Masterchef contestants were obsessed with.
😉 Stalks are best used for soups, stocks those kind of recipes while the leaves for garnish.
