Photo of the day 😉
Courtesy of the City of Melbourne mail drop, I must say Melbourne has an incredible Christmassy festive vibe.
Yes I know that I missed the 1st day of December’s post yesterday… So to make it up, here’s today’s double posting!!! 😉
And what’s a better way to welcome Christmas than the song…
Flinders St Station Merry Christmas banner 😉
Federation square Christmas tree wonderland (all we need is snow for it to be perfect!
Let it snow, let it snow)
The Gingerbread Village by Epicure at Melbourne Town Hall Gallery 2013
And who can forget the whimsical Christmas magic at Melbourne Town Hall at night?!
December is truly a month of Christmas magic 😉 whether you’re in the Northern Hemisphere with the glistening snow, making snowmans, falling snowflakes and warm mugs of cocoa by the fire. Or wandering down under in the Summer’s Christmas town (though given Melbourne’s 4 seasons we do have our share of cold December days reminiscent of the North 😉
The old is still magical for me, but this year I’m super excited to see the new (the ones I haven’t been)- Melbourne Town Hall (which I seem to keep missing out all the time XD) and the Lego Christmas tree at Federation Square Plaza (how awesome is that?!)
Other than heading out to the Christmassy landmarks, there are definitely other things you can do to have the Christmas magic everyday 😉 🎄✨💫🎆
#1: Reading 😉
You know to me, reading seems to be a lost art form. Sure we read all the time off our screens, but reading from an actual book seems to be disappearing. Random fact by the way, did you know that we actually eat faster when we’re staring at a screen as opposed to reading a book?
For me, I’ve recently rediscovered the joy of reading an actual book when I checked out the Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate events and starting re-reading my Harry Potter novels 😉 There’s nothing like reading an actual book as you’re instantly transported into another world. Where everything around you pales in the background as you indulge in the story. The ultimate escape 😉
My favourite novels for Christmas are:
Welcome to my World & It Started with a Kiss by Miranda Dickinson ( I know how the latter sounds, you’re instantly thinking chick-lit! But it’s is actually about Romily’s friendship with her wedding band & adventures, while blogging to find the mystery guy; ok so sorta chick-lit, but not the main theme 😉
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickins (best novel ever to re-spark the Christmas excitement) 😉
Harry Potter– all the Christmas chapters (which actually has a lot of coverage surprisingly up to the 7th).
And when you’re done with reading, the #2 to do is Christmas movies!
My top picks for the season are….
Arthur Christmas ( This movie was aired 2 times last year and honestly it’s the best Christmas cartoon movie I’ve ever seen 😉 Arthur’s excitement for Christmas is truly infectious and will be sure to spark the inner child in you!
The Santa Clause trilogy (Tim Allen is without the doubt the best on screen Santa Claus. From the 1st movie shock transformation to becoming Santa and his comedic spins on it (along with his adorable son Charlie) to the 2nd movie of a rampant toy Santa taking over while he finds a wife to the 3rd going back in time in the alternative reality if he wasn’t Santa.
Home Alone series 😉 Whether it’s the 1st two Kevin McCallisters in New York and home (2nd is my favourite 😉 I’m little obsessed with New York 😉 But seriously if we were kids with Dad’s credit card stranded in another state would we think to use it to check in the most glorious hotel? Genius!
3rd movie- technically Alex wasn’t Home Alone as he was sick with the chickenpox and his family was out. But still was an epic movie with one kid against 4 baddies!
4th movie… A smart house. Seriously. When is our smart house coming???
And that’s a wrap! Till the 3rd day of December 😉
P.S: I’m guessing you can tell Christmas magic is the word of the day 😉
